Quick Connector with Flow Control and Ball Lock, Stainless Steel
If you're looking for a simple way to balance your beer lines, this is the perfect solution. Please note that even in a fully open position, these flow control quick connectors have a certain natural flow restriction, so you should use either shorter hoses or hoses with a larger inner diameter compared to traditional ball lock quick connectors.
One of the advantages of flow control quick connectors is that you don't have to rely on a small inner diameter or hose length to create flow resistance, so it wouldn't make sense to use long or small inner diameter hoses at the same time, as that's the job of the flow control device.
This is ideal for those who want to serve a wide variety of beverages with different carbonation levels, as it allows easy adjustment of resistance.
This stainless steel quick connector is made from quality machined stainless steel with MFL threads. It is ideally used with duotight MFL fittings.
Setting up beer lines isn't just about getting beer from keg to tap. You also need to ensure your system has the right flow resistance.
If you have beer with a specific level of carbonation, you need to dispense that beer (if using CO2 for dispensing) at a very specific pressure. Thus, you have no option to increase or decrease pressure to change the speed of liquid coming out of the tap. For this reason, you need to regulate either the length of your beer line, the inner diameter, or use flow control devices like this to ensure beer exits the tap at the correct speed. Ideally 250-400 ml / 10 seconds (based on standard 10 mm inner diameter tubing).
Flow control devices are useful, but they can create a small amount of turbulence and thus cause foaming. In the past, taps with flow control have been the only common option. Such flow control taps are popular, but they have a problem that because they are located right at the end of the beer line, they lack pressure. As a result, the turbulence created can cause foaming and dissolution of carbonation.
In contrast, flow control quick connectors like this have the ability to restrict flow before the beer enters the beer line, so that the pressure created by the beer line keeps carbonation in solution. Even in cases where significant turbulence occurs, the beer is much more resistant to foaming problems. For this reason, flow control quick connectors like this have significantly better performance, allowing you to easily adjust the line resistance, but without creating the turbulence that causes foaming.
Usage principle: The quick connector is attached to the beginning of the beer line, where it allows flow rate regulation before the beer enters the line. Using the adjustment mechanism, you can customize the flow resistance according to the carbonation level, while maintaining proper pressure throughout the system.
