BECO ACF 07.10 activated carbon filter sheets are a microporous/inert material that is washed with acid and activated with steam. When cleaning or changing the color of the products, a physical connection occurs between the inner surfaces of the activated carbon and the impure or colored substance. Because this bond is largely non-polar - it has a high affinity for organic molecules. The effect is affected by the speed of filtration. The contact time between the product and the adsorbent has a decisive influence on the adsorption processes. Thus, the adsorption performance can be controlled by the filtration rate. The slow filtration rate and long exposure period ensure optimal use of the adsorption capacity. Application examples: coloring of chemicals and synthetic oils, Coloring aqueous and alcoholic extracts, filtration of solutions of glucose, enzymes, vitamins and antibiotics, processing of cosmetics, flavor and color improvement of beverages, spirits and fruit juices, removal of odors and unwanted by-products from liquids. The filter sheets are made of extremely pure natural materials, using fine-fibrated cellulose fibers and a cationic charge carrier, as well as high-quality diatomaceous earth and acid-washed and steam activated carbon. Instructions for proper use: BECO depth filter sheets require careful handling when placing them in the plate and frame filter. Avoid banging, bending and rubbing the leaves. Do not use damaged filter sheets. Addition: Each BECO deep filter sheet has a rough side and a smooth side. The rough side is the unfiltered side; the smooth side is the filtrate side. When inserting the sheets, always ensure that the filtrate side is in contact with the smooth filtrate plate. Disinfection and sterilization (optional): Moistened BECO ACF 07.10 filter sheets can be sterilized with hot water or saturated steam up to a maximum temperature of 121°C. The compressed filter pack should be slightly loosened. Be sure to sterilize the entire filter system thoroughly. Apply final pressure only after the filter pack has cooled. Hot water sterilization: The flow rate should be at least equal to the filtration capacity. Water quality: The water should be softened and clean. Temperature: 85°C, Duration: 30 minutes after the temperature has reached stability at 85°C. Pressure: At least 7.2 psi (50 kPa, 0.5 bar) at the filter outlet. Steam sterilization: Steam quality: the steam must contain foreign particles and impurities. Temperature: max. 121°C, (saturated steam). Duration: about 20 minutes after steam escapes from all filter valves. Flushing: After sterilization at 1.23 gal/ft2 (50 l/m²) at 1.25 times the flow rate. Filter preparation and filtration Before the first filtration, rinse the filter with 50l/m² water at 1.25 times the flow rate. Depending on the application, this typically equates to a 10 to 20 minute rinse time. Check the entire filter for leaks at maximum operating pressure. High-strength alcohol solutions and chemical products that do not allow pre-rinsing with water should be circulated for 10 to 20 minutes. After rinsing, rinse the solution.
